Akron Children’s Hospital was formed in 1890 and has since grown into a network of 2 hospitals and more than 60 urgent, primary and specialty care locations. With more than a million patient visits a year, the hospital has been leading the way to healthier futures for children through quality patient care, education, advocacy, community service and medical discovery. Akron Children’s Hospital also partners with other health systems to bring its neonatal and pediatric expertise to patients in their community hospitals.
Akron Children’s Hospital prioritizes investment in new research, improving access to healthcare services for children and families, enhancing public health, advancing medical or health knowledge, and reducing the burden of government and other community efforts. The hospital’s Center for Patient Experience Innovation coordinates hospital-wide strategy and acts as a hub for relevant support services and resources in order to transform the emotional and cognitive journey of patients and their families. It was recognized by Becker's Hospital Review in their inaugural list of 50 Hospitals with Innovation Programs.
